The Burlington Sailing & Boating Club is delighted to recognize three outstanding members whose dedication and service were celebrated at the Fiscal 20242025 Annual General Meeting on January 28, 2026.
Don Bingley Volunteerism Award Laud Da Costa
This year's Don Bingley Volunteerism Award was presented to Laud Da Costa for his longstanding, selfless service to the club. As Officer of the Day Coordinator, Laud has for many years ensured OOD shifts ran smoothly, often being on the docks himself to greet reciprocal visitors and cruises with a smile, a helping hand, and practical advice. Although he recently sold his Tanzer 26 "Redi" Laud continues to support BS&BC as a Social Member, and the Board felt his countless hours and quiet leadership exemplify the spirit of this award.
Commodore's Award Catherine Schiller and Bob Duggan
The 2025 Commodore's Award was presented, at the Commodore's discretion, to two long-serving leaders: Treasurer Catherine Schiller and outgoing Vice-Commodore Bob Duggan. Both Catherine and Bob were recognized for many years of exceptional service to BS&BC, the Board, and the wider membership, contributing to the club's strong financial footing, vibrant social calendar, and welcoming onwater community. Their dedication and unwavering commitment have helped shape the club's growth and success, and the Commodore and Board thanked them warmly on behalf of all members.
Looking ahead
These awards highlight the central role of volunteers in every aspect of BS&BC life, from safe operations and events to mentoring new sailors. Members interested in getting more involved are encouraged to watch MyBSBC for volunteer opportunities and to speak with any Board member about open coordinator and committee roles.
