Frequently Asked Questions
When can I register?
Registration for the 2025 season will open on 1st February 2025.
The program usually fills up quickly. Once the program is full we put people on the waiting list. Once you have applied we will let you know if you can still be included in this year's program, or if we have had to put you on the waiting list. We will let you know as soon as space is available.
When are the sail training sessions?
Training sessions are based on your and the mentor's availability. Once we know your availability we will match your schedule with our BS&BC Volunteer Mentor. The more flexible your schedule the better chance we have of placing you.
We sail Monday to Sunday with three booking periods:
- 09:00-12:00
- 13:00-17:00
- 17:00-dusk.
You will be asked your availability as part of the registration process.
How many volunteer hours must I do for the Mentored Sailing Program?
All Intermediate members must complete 10 hours of volunteer work within the program. Incomplete hours will be charged back to the member. Each volunteer hour is equivalent to $18.00 and will be charged to the member for any incomplete hours.
Do I need to have a valid Pleasure Craft Operators Card to join?
In order to learn to helm the boat you must have your PCOC. In order to challenge the Skipper's test, you must have your PCOC.
