In 1981, after many years of planning, the La Salle Park Marina Association was formed and the marina, with its 219 slips, was built. Completely funded in terms of both capital and operating budgets by the original members, the marina is owned by the City of Burlington and occupies space leased through the City of Burlington from the Hamilton Harbour Commission.
Main dock walkways are 6 feet in width and fingers are 4 feet in width. All slips have a minimum of 13 feet in width accommodating a maximum beam of 12 feet. Fresh water is available within the reach of all slips, and limited hydro, for maintenance and repairs, has been provided. While barbecues are not permitted in the marina proper a floating picnic area complete with tables and gas barbecues is available along the main walkway from the shore-line. Gas barbecues on board are permitted.
The LaSalle Park Marina Association has a unique and very close relationship with the Burlington Sailing and Boating Club which also operates out of LaSalle Park. BS&BC offers to its members a complete racing program, clubhouse, pump out, mast crane, cruising program and limited winter storage. Over half of LaSalle Park Marina Association members are also members of BS&BC.
